Sony PlayStation gets Guinness World Record for top of the line support brand
"We're excited to be confirmed as the top of the line home computer game comfort brand ever, with more than 450 million units sold over the first PlayStation, PS2, PS3 and PS4 as of Nov. 7, as indicated by @GWR," PlayStation tweeted on Tuesday, with a photograph of Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan and previous CEO Ken Kutaragi.
Taking a gander at the individual consoles' marketing projections up to September, PS2 and PS4 are the top-selling home consoles ever, with offers of 155 million and 102.8 million consoles, separately. The first PlayStation is only behind with 102.5 million, while the PS3 sold a relatively frustrating 87.4 million units.
"Beginning from a modest start as an upstart inside Sony, Ken Kutaragi and group conveyed on a dream to hoist computer games as a type of amusement that everybody could appreciate, and to make a stage for game designers to express their imagination," Ryan wrote in a blog entry denoting PlayStation's 25th commemoration.
"The first PlayStation sold 100,000 units in Japan on its first day and proceeded to turn into the principal ever home comfort to outperform 100 million units sold all inclusive."
The PS5 is seemingly within easy reach for 2020, however there's still life in the PS4. Up and coming special features The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima will keep supports warm until the cutting edge shows up.
